Organizational Background
The
National Step Show Alliance is a 501(c)3
non-profit organization founded in
2005. The Alliance was created
by members of the Nashville alumni
chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic
Council. While founded in Nashville,
the long-term goal of the
organization is to develop
collaborative partnerships with
community groups in other cities to
benefit youth.
The
growing prevalence of
Childhood obesity is a growing
concern, especially in the
African-American community. The NSSA
is using the popularity of step to
provide a format for weekly
exercise. |

Mission
The
aim of the
National Step Show Alliance is
two-fold:
To Use stepping as a means
to reach out to middle and high
school students with “step
mentoring” programs; and
To
Serve as an umbrella
organization for step to preserve
and archive the rich cultural
history of step dance.
Through the collection of
information from people nationwide
within the “step community” the
NSSA is able to provide members
data and “best practices” for step
team development and step show event
planning.
With membership in the
NSSA you will receive the guidebook
“Step 101: A Primer” guidebook 2007
edition. |

Your Involvement
As a relatively young organization,
the NSSA actively seeks involvement
of individuals and groups who
support our goals. We seek to have
our membership base grow and have
your ideas help further the NSSA.
